BIM for landscape architecture.

Embracing new work techniques to oblige the Bim services consumers, however, isn’t a five finger task. Landscape Architecture can be framed as implementation and study of designing the environment of various elements that circumscribe segments of environment with architecture and art, keeping in mind the social factors.
The agenda is to enhance and beautify the surroundings, creating life in between the buildings. Landscape architects add life to the streets, apartment compounds, shopping malls, regional parks, playgrounds, waterways and what not, creating a space which fits for all.
Concept of Building Information Modeling is not novelty, as it is extremely familiar term amongst Architects and Engineers today. Most of the AEC firms, Construction companies etc. today are using BIM for many construction processes. Every one today is influenced by this technology for some or the other reasons. Right from Architectural Construction Drawings, Site Design, Landscape Architecture, BIM Coordination, 3D visualization or there are many areas where Virtual construction technology comes to play.
ABREAST DESIGN DECISION AND ADVANTAGES:
BIM has the potential to optimize any project — schematics followed by documentation to the building phase.
ANALYZE TERRAIN– Revit allows the processing of terrain points that is triangulated to the surface.
SUN & SHADE STUDIES– Glazing sizing, balancing against heat loss or gain. The sun shading analysis can be easily done with BIM.
CALCULATE ELEMENTARY COSTS– Pre-designed model helps in cost estimations in the initial stages itself.
SOFTWARE WHICH ARE COMMONLY USED IN LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE:
Revit and ArchiCAD: Popular BIM software, focuses majorly on the building and not on the site.
Vector works Landmark: Does not offer IFC import and export yet.
AutoCAD: add-on program is required for proper integrated landscape tasks (LandF/X or LandCADD)
Some other commonly used BIM software are Bentley Architecture and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
